Wesley Chapel residents gained a 102-bed hospital the week of July 14, when Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health Wiregrass Ranch Hospital opened its doors at 3000 Wiregrass Ranch Blvd.
The five-story facility is the centerpiece of a $750 million, 47-acre campus that will eventually grow to 300 beds, according to the Tampa Bay Beacons. It makes Wesley Chapel home to three major hospitals, joining AdventHealth and BayCare within miles of one another.
The campus will employ more than 400 people, Hospital President Joe Delatorre told the Beacons.
"People will actually come to the hospital to eat, even if they're not a patient or seeing someone," Delatorre said of the cafeteria. "That's how good the food is — I'm being serious."
Inside the new hospital: 29 ER rooms, nine operating rooms and a chapel
The hospital includes 29 emergency department exam rooms, 12 intensive care beds, nine operating rooms (including one hybrid room with advanced imaging), two catheterization labs, two digestive health endoscopy suites, an electrophysiology lab, an interventional radiology lab, a bronchoscopy suite, an imaging department, a chapel and a full-size cafeteria.
Two office buildings, a women's center and a freestanding ER are next
Two medical office buildings are already under construction on the Wiregrass campus. One spans 90,000 square feet; the other will house a dedicated women's center. Orlando Health also plans to break ground in the coming months on a 50,000-square-foot medical office building on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
A separate 10,865-square-foot freestanding emergency department is planned at State Road 54 and Henley Road, with 10 exam rooms, an imaging suite, a lab and an ambulance bay. Orlando Health expects to add two more buildings and an off-site facility by 2028.
Pasco County's growth is fueling a fourth hospital, this one for kids
Pasco County has added roughly 500,000 residents since 1970 and is projected to gain more than 200,000 more through 2045, driving demand for hospital beds closer to home.
A fourth hospital is on the way. Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is building a $300 million, 239,000-square-foot pediatric campus at 29999 Boyette Road near Interstate 75 and Overpass Road. The facility topped out in May 2026 and is expected to open in fall 2027 with 56 beds, a 16-room emergency center and four operating rooms.
"The families here have to travel outside of the county for just about every pediatric service except for primary care," Dr. Joseph Perno, chief administrative officer of Johns Hopkins All Children's, said at the May 8 topping-out ceremony. "So to be here for them, that means less time in the car, more time with family."
