Wesley Chapel High School's soccer program has laid out a preseason schedule spanning roughly two months for student-athletes hoping to make the 2026-27 Wildcats roster, starting with a mandatory player and parent meeting on Thursday, August 20.
The meeting runs from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the WCHS cafeteria. Every prospective player must attend with a parent or guardian, according to an announcement posted on the school's website. The posting does not specify whether it covers the boys program, girls program or both; families should contact WCHS athletics for clarification.
The agenda covers season expectations, important deadlines, conditioning logistics, tryout details, team policies and a parent-player Q&A. The school has not yet publicly named the coaching staff for the upcoming season, though the post is titled "Meet Your Coaches!"
Conditioning and tryouts
After the meeting, players enter a six-session conditioning block on Wednesdays from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.: September 9, 16, 23 and 30, plus October 7 and 14.
Tryouts run Tuesday, October 13, through Friday, October 16, from 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. each day. The posted schedule shows the final conditioning session on Wednesday, October 14, falling within the tryout window that begins October 13. Players need cleats, a water bottle and an approved 2026-27 athletic clearance, which a separate WCHS athletics posting lists as a requirement for all school sports participation.
Season opener less than two weeks after tryouts
The timeline is tight. MaxPreps lists the Wesley Chapel boys varsity opener on Wednesday, October 28, at Angeline Academy of Innovation in Land O' Lakes at 6:30 p.m. That gives the coaching staff roughly 12 days between the final tryout session and the opening whistle.
A conference home match against Mitchell High School of New Port Richey is also listed for Friday, January 8, 2027, at 7:30 p.m.
What families need to know
Wesley Chapel competes in FHSAA Class 5A. Soccer is a winter sport under FHSAA rules, with the regular season running from late October into February followed by district play and playoffs.
The announcement states tryouts are open to returning and new players alike. Any WCHS student-athlete who secures athletic clearance and attends the August 20 meeting is eligible to try out.
Full details are posted at wchs.pasco.k12.fl.us. The first scheduled event is the mandatory meeting on Thursday, August 20, at 5 p.m.
