Wesley Chapel residents can walk through the fire station built to cut their emergency response times nearly in half when Pasco County Fire Rescue hosts a public grand opening celebration for Station 2 on Friday, August 14.
The ribbon cutting begins at 4 p.m. at 32134 CR 54 (Wesley Chapel Blvd.), followed by an open house from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Visitors can tour the facility, meet the firefighters assigned to the new service area, and stop by interactive safety booths staffed by PCFR's Public Educators and Mobile Integrated Health team, according to Pasco County Fire Rescue on Friday, July 31.
Station 2 went into service on Tuesday, July 14, near County Road 54 and Fox Ridge Boulevard. It houses Engine 2, Rescue 2, and Investigator 2.
The station fills a gap Fire Chief Ryan Guynn said had been a decade in the making. Neighborhoods in the area were previously covered by three separate stations, with typical response times of 10 to 12 minutes. The new station is expected to cut that roughly in half.
"We'll probably reduce that response time in half," Guynn told Fox 13 on July 14, the day the station opened. "Before, we were typically looking at 10, 11, 12 minutes."
The facility also includes health features for firefighters, with designated "hot" and "cool" zones that reduce exposure to cancer-causing contaminants after fire calls. Crews remove contaminated gear, shower, and change into clean clothing before entering living quarters.
Station 2 is part of a broader PCFR expansion as Pasco County absorbs rapid growth. The county added roughly 106,000 residents between 2020 and 2025, a 19.5% increase that ranked it second in the Tampa Bay region, according to Plan Hillsborough data. A new Station 4 in Odessa is expected to open in fall 2027, and a replacement Station 1 at the Public Safety Campus in Land O' Lakes is slated for this winter.
