Patriots Day and Homecoming Week
The game carried meaning beyond the scoreboard. Cypress Creek's school community used the day to honor the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.

The acts honored the unity and sacrifice that followed the 2001 attacks. The school also held a ceremony at the football game recognizing those impacted by 9/11, and fans were encouraged to wear red, white and blue.
The game fell during Cypress Creek's Homecoming Week, themed "Going Down the Bayou."
