A 75-year-old Hudson woman reported missing Tuesday, Aug. 11, has been found safe, the Pasco County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday morning.
Jane Keene was the subject of a Silver Alert issued that evening after she was last seen around 4 p.m. in the 14000 block of Fivay Road in Hudson, about 25 miles northwest of Wesley Chapel. Deputies described her as 5 feet 6 inches tall, approximately 180 pounds, with dark blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing an orange shirt and dark-colored pants.
The sheriff's office posted its first alert about Keene on X at approximately 10:39 p.m. Aug. 11, asking the public for help. A second post followed at approximately 11:35 p.m., explicitly noting a Silver Alert had been issued. The agency's official news page published the alert at 2:39 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12.
By 11:04 a.m. Wednesday, the sheriff's office updated that same page confirming Keene had been found and was safe. The agency did not release details on where or how she was located, or what time she was recovered.
What is a Silver Alert?
Florida's Silver Alert program, administered by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, is activated for missing persons who suffer from an irreversible deterioration of intellectual faculties such as Alzheimer's disease or dementia. To qualify, the person must be 60 years or older, or between 18 and 59 if law enforcement determines the individual lacks the capacity to consent. The designation triggers a coordinated multi-agency search and public notification effort.
Keene's case resolved in less than 24 hours. The Pasco Sheriff's Office has not indicated whether any tips from the public contributed to locating her.
