Wesley Chapel District Park will host a free, daylong gardening festival Saturday, Oct. 3, marking the event's 10th year in the community.

Festival runs 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at park

UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County's Gardening 365 Festival & Plant Sale runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park, located at 7727 Boyette Road. Admission is free, and the event goes on rain or shine, according to Pasco County's public information office.

Master Gardener Volunteers organize annual October event

The festival is organized by Pasco County's Master Gardener Volunteers, a program run through UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County. The county's event page describes the Gardening 365 Festival as an annual tradition held the first Saturday each October at the Wesley Chapel park.

Plant sale, seminars and butterfly exhibit planned

Visitors can browse a plant sale, attend gardening seminars and walk through a butterfly exhibit called the Butterfly Walk-Thru. A Kids Zone and a Touch-A-Truck display round out the lineup for families. Vendors will also be on-site.

'Wanna Know More' station offers gardening advice

One draw for home gardeners is a station called "Wanna Know More," which the festival's Eventbrite listing describes as offering attendees one-on-one access to Master Gardener Volunteers for gardening advice throughout the day. The Eventbrite listing is free to register.

County promotes event on social media

The Pasco County government Facebook page promoted the festival as a chance for residents to "grow your gardening skills with the masters," a nod to the Master Gardener Volunteers who staff the seminars and plant sale each year.

Seminar topics, vendor list not yet released

Specific seminar topics and a full vendor list had not been posted as of Thursday, Sept. 10. Residents looking for updates or wanting to reach the organizers can visit the UF/IFAS Extension Pasco County event page or call 352-518-0156.
