Four local nonprofits pitched their missions to Wesley Chapel-area business owners Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the North Tampa Bay Chamber of Commerce's second annual "Pitch With A Purpose" breakfast at Pasco-Hernando State College's Porter Campus in Wesley Chapel.
The Suicide Prevention Training Institute, Premier Community HealthCare, Dads Figure It Out Foundation and Elks Lodge No. 2893 each made their case during the panel-style event, which ran from 9 to 10:30 a.m. in the conference center at 2727 Mansfield Blvd., according to the chamber's event announcement. Chamber board member Chuck Sullivan, managing partner of McFarland Gould Lyons Sullivan & Hogan, P.A., moderated.
The format was simple. Each nonprofit pitched its work and asked the room for volunteers, sponsors and partners. Tickets cost $25 for chamber members and $30 for nonmembers, with a full breakfast included.
The chamber, which serves more than 620 member businesses across Wesley Chapel, New Tampa, Trinity and Odessa, launched the showcase in 2025. That inaugural event packed the Porter Campus ballroom with more than 200 attendees, according to OurTownFLA's coverage. Chamber President and CEO Hope Kennedy said at the July 2025 inaugural that the showcase aims to connect businesses directly with nonprofits seeking real partnerships and tangible support. No attendance figure for the 2026 edition has been released.
Two of the featured organizations are headquartered in Wesley Chapel. The Suicide Prevention Training Institute, based at 28329 Paseo Drive, offers the LivingWorks ASIST training program to first responders, veterans, educators and community members across the Tampa Bay region. Dads Figure It Out Foundation, founded by Miguel DeLeon Jr. at 5450 Bruce B. Downs Blvd., earned its 501(c)(3) status in October 2025 and has recognized 30 fathers across 14 states through storytelling and community events.
Premier Community HealthCare, a federally qualified health center founded in 1979, serves Pasco and Hernando counties with primary care regardless of patients' ability to pay. The Tampa Bay Times named it a 2026 Top Workplace.
