Wesley Chapel commuters heading out after dark will run into lane closures on SR 54 and stretches of I-75 beginning Sunday, according to a Florida Department of Transportation announcement reported by Tampa Bay 28.
The most local disruption: SR 54 at Altamont Lane will lose lanes nightly from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. through Thursday.
Drivers heading south on I-75 toward Tampa face two separate closures:
- I-75 at SR 574 (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard): Lanes closed from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday. This interchange sits in the New Tampa/Temple Terrace area.
- I-75 from the I-4 interchange to Fowler Avenue: Nightly lane closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. through Aug. 28. This one extends well beyond the initial closure window and will affect southbound commuters for more than a month.
A third closure sits farther north in Pasco County: SR 52 westbound near the Suncoast Parkway has a left lane closed around the clock with no stated end date.

FDOT has not publicly identified the specific project or contractor for the SR 54 work at Altamont Lane. The I-75 closures between I-4 and Fowler Avenue are part of a longer-term project running through late August.
FDOT advised drivers to reduce speed in work zones, watch for crews and build extra time into overnight trips.
