Hillsborough County firefighters will lace up their skates Saturday, Aug. 22, at AdventHealth Center Ice for a charity hockey showdown against Tampa Bay-area law enforcement officers, with all proceeds going to families of fallen firefighters.

The Second Annual Firefighter Faceoff pits HCFR Hockey, a club team of Hillsborough County Fire Rescue firefighters established in 2015, against the Tampa Bay Marauders, a hockey team made up of members of the Tampa Bay-area law enforcement community. Puck drops at 6 p.m. at the Wesley Chapel rink, with the game running until approximately 8:30 p.m., according to Wesley Chapel Biz.

Proceeds from the game and a "Fill the Boot" donation drive at the venue benefit Hillsborough County Firefighter Charities, a Tampa-based 501(c)(3) founded in 2002 that supports families of fallen Hillsborough County firefighters.

The Hillsborough Fire Hockey Club promoted the matchup on its Instagram page on Monday, Aug. 17.

@hcfrhockey: "More than a hockey game. This is why we play."

Organizers are billing the event as family-friendly, with local vendors, a chance to meet firefighters and a national anthem performance before the game. The club had been recruiting a vocalist for the anthem via its Facebook page.

Suncoast Credit Union is a sponsor of the event.

The first Firefighter Faceoff was held at the same venue last August.

AdventHealth Center Ice is located at 3173 Cypress Ridge Blvd. in Wesley Chapel. Ticket pricing was not listed on the venue's event page or the organizers' social media accounts as of Tuesday, Aug. 18.
