A 42-year-old Zephyrhills woman died after a vehicle struck her bicycle on State Road 54 on Halloween evening, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 7:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31, on SR-54 west of Morris Bridge Road in Pasco County, the Hernando Sun reported.
The bicyclist was riding westbound in the bike lane. A 45-year-old Wesley Chapel man was driving a Hyundai Elantra in the same direction behind her, FHP said. The bicyclist made an immediate left turn into the vehicle's path and was hit.
She was taken to an area hospital, where she died from her injuries.
Troopers did not say whether the driver was injured, according to Patch. Neither the victim nor the driver has been publicly identified in the FHP accounts relayed by those outlets.
Neither report indicated whether FHP has filed charges or citations in connection with the crash.
