Republican incumbent Seth Weightman won 130,809 votes (55.4%) to Democrat Stephanie Vazquez's 105,475 votes (44.6%) in the Pasco County Commission District 2 race, with all 122 of 122 reporting units counted, according to unofficial results from Pasco County Supervisor of Elections. Weightman led by 25,334 votes, a margin of 10.8 percentage points.

District 2 covers parts of Wesley Chapel and Land O' Lakes in south-central Pasco County. Weightman's win secures him a second term on the commission.

What was at stake

The Pasco County Commission oversees zoning, roads, budgets and growth policy across one of Florida's fastest-developing counties. District 2 sits at the center of that growth.

The key issues:

  • Vazquez, an Air Force veteran, campaigned on infrastructure improvements, smart growth and government transparency, as reported by the Hernando Sun.
  • Weightman was first elected in 2022, running unopposed in that year's general election.
  • The race was the county's highest-spending contest. Weightman raised $203,000 and outspent Vazquez almost two to one through Oct. 30, according to the Hernando Sun. Vazquez raised nearly all of her $85,000 from individual donors.

Weightman's second term will shape decisions on roads, zoning and development across Wesley Chapel and surrounding communities.

A little history

Weightman was first elected to the commission in 2022, running unopposed in the general election that year. Much of his campaign funding came from political committees, party groups and businesses, including the Realtors PAC, Pasco PAC and TECO Holdings Inc., according to the Hernando Sun. Vazquez raised nearly all of her money from individual donors.

What's next

The results remain unofficial until the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections completes the canvass. The supervisor last updated these results at 12:00 a.m. EST on Nov. 4.
