Pasco County Emergency Management heads to the Wesley Chapel Branch library on Thursday, Aug. 27, for a free disaster and hurricane preparedness workshop, one week after the Cobalt Apartments fire displaced roughly 400 residents and left a building condemned.

The "Seeds of Knowledge" session runs 11 a.m. to noon at 27531 Mystic Oak Blvd. and will cover emergency resources and planning, according to the Tampa Bay Beacons. On Saturday, Aug. 29, the same library hosts a PBS Kids Workshop, "Getting Ready: Emergency Preparedness for Families," from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. That session targets families with children ages 4–8 and includes a PBS KIDS Weather Hunters screening. Space is limited and registration is required.

Laughs at the Grove

Comedian Paul Snyder brings his Dry Bar Comedy special "I Left the House for This" to Side Splitters Comedy Club at the Grove (6333 Wesley Grove Blvd.) at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Thursday, Aug. 27–29.

Markets and more, Sept. 4–5

The Market Elaine takes over The Grove at Wesley Chapel (6013 Wesley Grove Blvd.) from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 4, with more than 150 vendors, live entertainment and activities for all ages.

Saturday, Sept. 5, brings two morning markets. The Fresh Market at Wiregrass opens 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at The Shops at Wiregrass (28211 Paseo Drive) with more than 50 vendors selling local produce, artisan goods and eco-friendly products. The Downtown Saturday Market at Avalon Park Wesley Chapel (4424 Friendly Way) runs 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with baked goods, home decor and local small businesses.

Also on Sept. 5, the Tampa Bay Ukulele Society hosts a free jam session from noon to 2 p.m. at New River Library, 34043 State Road 54. Bring your own ukulele.

Looking ahead: Behind the Bottle at Epperson Lagoon

MetroLagoons and Tampa Bay Mixology launch Behind the Bottle, a monthly mixology series, on Friday, Sept. 11, at Epperson Lagoon (31885 Overpass Road). Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the hands-on session starts at 7 p.m.

Emma Nichter, director of operations at Tampa Bay Mixology, said in an Aug. 18 press release that the series is "all about getting hands-on with the experts, having fun and really digging into what makes each spirit unique."

September's session spotlights Patrón Tequila. Tickets are $50, guests must be 21 with valid ID, and reservations are required at MetroLagoons.com/Behind-The-Bottle. A food menu includes charcuterie boards and slider flights at $22 and dessert options at $14.
