Organizers moved the Candy Crawl at The Shops at Wiregrass to Sunday, Oct. 18, shifting the free Halloween event from its original Saturday, Oct. 10, date.

No reason for the change has been publicly stated. The new date, confirmed on the Wesley Chapel Community site and the event's Eventbrite page, keeps the same 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. window at 28211 Paseo Drive in Wesley Chapel.

The first 500 children receive a free treat bag and a mini pumpkin to decorate. Organizers advise arriving early because bags go while supplies last.

Activities listed on the Eventbrite page include Touch-a-Truck vehicles, a bounce house, a haunted obstacle course billed as "not-so-spooky," trick-or-treating from local businesses, live entertainment, crafts, games and a scavenger hunt with a prize. A costume swap and donation station will also be on-site. Costumes are encouraged but not required.

A costume contest for kids, adults, groups and pets begins at 1:30 p.m. Sign-ups happen at the Fun 4 Tampa Kids and Tampa Bay Moms Group table near the stage.

The event benefits TBMG Cares, Inc., a Florida nonprofit that raises money for Tampa Bay-area mothers and families. Giveaway entries can be made in advance on Eventbrite or at the event by scanning a QR code.

The Shops at Wiregrass is located at State Road 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard. The mall's common areas are pet friendly, according to the event listing.
