Wesley Chapel voters can start casting ballots Saturday, Aug. 8, at three local sites for the Aug. 18 primary election, Pasco County Supervisor of Elections Brian E. Corley announced Wednesday.
Early voting runs through Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.
The three Wesley Chapel sites:
- New River Library, 34043 State Road 54
- Wiregrass Ranch Sports Campus, 3021 Sports Coast Way
- Wesley Chapel District Park, 7727 Boyette Road
Voters can use any of the 12 countywide early voting sites regardless of their assigned Election Day precinct. Bring photo and signature ID.
Two sites dropped from prior years
Voters who used the Hudson Library or Regency Park Library in past elections should note that neither location will serve as an early voting site in 2026. The official announcement did not give a reason for the change.
What's on the ballot
Three contested races carry particular weight for Wesley Chapel voters:
School board (Districts 1, 3 and 5): Eleven candidates are competing for three open seats. School board races are nonpartisan, so all registered voters can participate regardless of party.
County Commission District 4: Incumbent Commissioner Lisa Yeager faces challenger Jonathon Deckard in a closed Republican primary. Yeager was appointed to the seat by Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2024 after Commissioner Gary Bradford's death and is seeking her first full term. Only registered Republicans can vote in this race because a write-in candidate closed the primary.
Florida House District 54: Incumbent Rep. Randy Maggard faces first-time candidate Michael Pultorak, a 30-year firefighter, in another write-in-closed Republican primary. With only a write-in opponent in November, the Aug. 18 winner effectively takes the seat.
"We need someone in Tallahassee that will stand up, fight for what is right, and restore transparency for all Floridians," Pultorak said in a Tampa Bay 28 candidate questionnaire published July 28.
Turnout and mail ballots
Pasco County primary turnout has been low in recent cycles: 24.88% in 2022 and 15.88% in 2024, according to Neighborhood News Online. More than 35,000 vote-by-mail ballots were mailed to Pasco voters in July. The deadline to request a mail ballot is 5 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6. Voted mail ballots must reach the elections office by 7 p.m. on Election Day, Aug. 18, and can also be dropped off at any early voting site during the early voting period.
