A new 120,000-square-foot home furnishings showroom has opened in Wesley Chapel, bringing furniture, appliances, kitchen products and home design services together under one roof.
CITY HOME, formerly known as CITY Furniture, opened its store at 25857 Sierra Center Blvd. with a four-day grand opening celebration that attracted thousands of visitors, according to a company announcement.
The celebration featured more than $90,000 in giveaways, including a drawing for a Tesla Model 3. The company said the winner would be announced later.
The Wesley Chapel location is the first showroom built from the ground up under the CITY HOME brand and the company's fourth showroom in the Tampa Bay and Sarasota market. The expansion follows the opening of a Sarasota location in 2025.
"Wesley Chapel really brings the CITY HOME vision to life," CEO Andrew Koenig said in the announcement. "We're creating a destination where customers can solve more of their home needs in one place."
More than furniture and mattresses
The new showroom offers products and services extending beyond the company's traditional furniture business.
Customers can shop for appliances, mattresses, home electronics, closets, bathroom products, fitness equipment, kitchen furnishings and connected-home technology.
The store also offers interior design consultations, custom cabinetry and connected-home installation services.
The expansion reflects a broader shift in the company's business strategy.
Before the pandemic, approximately 40% of CITY's customers were moving into or building homes, often needing furniture, appliances and other products at the same time, according to a June Tampa Bay Business & Wealth report.
The company responded by expanding into product categories that traditionally required separate visits to appliance retailers, kitchen suppliers and home improvement businesses.
Florida company plans more locations
CITY HOME traces its origins to 1971, when Kevin Koenig founded Waterbed City in Fort Lauderdale with $1,500 in savings. His brother, Keith Koenig, later joined the business.
The company adopted the CITY Furniture name in 1994 and subsequently expanded throughout Florida.
Andrew Koenig, Keith's son, now serves as CEO.
According to the company, CITY HOME operates more than 26 showrooms across Florida, along with 14 Ashley locations as a regional licensee.
The Wesley Chapel opening is part of a broader expansion and rebranding initiative, with additional showrooms and conversions planned through 2028.
The new store at 25857 Sierra Center Blvd. is open daily from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
